Here is Feng Shui Advice for those looking to have a Feng Shui consultation for their home or business. It is not worth skipping steps to reach your goal.  Feng Shui consultants can not stress enough to potential clients that when seeking a Feng Shui consultation, you need to make sure you are not: In a rush Concerned with time Unwilling to take suggestions and at least try what your consultant advises Having a Feng Shui consultation with a "un-clear" mind, which usually happens after a very traumatic event             - you need time to heal and allow your body, mind and spirit to settle and re-adjust   Please, please, please listen.......I know it is a lot of reading but this is important A potential client wanted a Feng Shui consultation for the office.  She said, "I just want you to come in, tell me where to place objects and I''ll pay you for the time". Sounds simple enough but, there is much more to Feng Shui then just "furniture placement". I said, "well, please understand Feng Shui has a much deeper meaning, you need to understand why your making changes and what it is that you intend to bring into your life". I proceeded to educate her a little on the history because there are so many misconceptions of what Feng Shui is and how is can be utilized to enhance your way of living.  Unfortunately for this potential client, she was not interested in listening or wanting to understand the History or principles of Feng Shui.  She asked next, how do your consultations work? I answered, First and foremost we always educate our clients, so that when suggestions are made, you completely understand why and will have the opportunity to make changes on your own. She replied, "I already know all about Feng Shui, I don''t need that".  I said, "ok that is fine, are you familiar with the Bagua, the red envelope tradition or Western Methods?  She did not recognize any of them. Knowledge is power and education is key when you wish to accomplish your goals, skipping this step will do you no good   Then she says, "When can you come to my office and what time"?  We discussed a day and I explained, "we consult between 9am-2pm the latest, because the space clearings are strongest between those times.  She disagreed with me on that too, " I do not want a space clearing, we do our own".  I said, "ok, I will leave the Feng Shui space clearing out of your consultation but, I strongly advice that you preform your own". The replied, "we have no time for that, renovations will begin right away." In Feng Shui, this is even more reason to have a Space Clearing. This will assure a good transition and allow you to give thanks to the original space for years of success.  Space Clearings need to be preformed after a Feng Shui consultation to complete the session, or before a renovation and a new construction, to assure the best results possible and to clear out any "negative" energy. If you are rushing your Feng Shui consultation and consultant, you will not receive the best possible results. Your energy and intentions need to be 100% focused. What you put in, is what you get back.    The ending to this story is about traditions.  One of the Feng Shui traditions before preforming a consultation is to have your client pre-pare Red Envelopes.  I explain to this clients what the tradition represents and how to pre-pare them, again I received resistance.  She says, " no, I do not have time, I don''t want to buy red envelopes ...etc.." I replied, "this is very important for the both of us and needs to be completed (explaining why)." She kept saying, "no I will not pre-pare them", so finally I had to let her go because clearly there was no connection between us and it would not benefit her or her consultation.  Both parties need to respect each others traditions. When we concluded for the day I headed out to the quad area to join the students in some fun festivities.  I have to say I had a blast, free games, music and best of all free food! On 65th street on the Upper West side in NYC is the world famous "The Juilliard School" for the Preforming Arts, which includes music, Singing, dancing and more. Right next door to Juilliard is Lincoln Center where Students and professional Ballet dancers, Opera Singers, Musicians share their talents with the world.  During the summer the students preform free "concerts" for local residents of New York and tourists. Please do not make Her Disappear by Laura Cerrano Feng Shui NY Long Island consultant I want help clear up a mis-conception about Feng Shui Space Clearings for loved ones who have passed. Today my client on Long Island NY brought up a very good question and even greater concern. He recently lost his grandmother whom he was very close to and lived with. A main intention for the Feng Shui consultation today was to preform a space clearing ceremony to help release any sad negative energy and also to allow a new start for himself. He asked me, "when you preform a space clearing will it make my grandmother disappear? I can feel her presents and it comforts me, Please do not make her disappear".   I was really touched by his comment. When Space clearings are preformed the intention behind it plays a very powerful part.  I told him, the space clearing is to help acknowledge your grandmothers spirit for being on earth and saying thank you for all she has done to help guide, protect and love you. A space clearing signifies, if for some reason her spirit or any spirit was unaware, that it is time to continue on to their next journey.  The clearing will never "make her disappear". What is gone is her physical presents. Speechless Sunday: Tower of Toilet Paper by Feng Shui NY Long Island consultant Today was a great Feng Shui consultation on the Upper East Side by Central Park in New York City.  This two bedroom apartment emanated some great energetic vibes.  The Feng Shui consultation with Danny was particularly focused on  enhancing his knowledge about Feng Shui and providing confirmation for his thoughts on how to set up his new apartment.  Danny had what we like to refer as, "Intuitive Feng Shui".   One room that particularly stood out was his bathroom.  As I entered into the Manhattan apartment bathroom all I could do was laugh :) Do you notice anything interesting in the bathroom, perhaps in the corner? She shared many life situations either her friends or her had experienced over the years living and working in New York City. She offered an abundance of self defense information and easy to remember tips on how to not just defend your self when the physical attack happens, but with how to avoid an attack from becoming a reality.   After learning the Self Defense Techniques, you need to practice! One story she shared with the group truly hit home because it was about her friend who was hosting an open house alone. Does this sound familiar?  The home was located in a well-off suburban area and was shown during the middle of the day.  You would think that is a pretty safe environment, in-fact as Gabrielle puts it, it is the "Illusion of Safety". Gabrielle''s friend got into a very uncomfortable and could have been dangerous situation. The "bad guy" will not care what time of day, type of home or type of female they attack, they either want to rob you or do worse. The conclusion to Gabrielle''s story was that her friend, knowing how to handle the situation verbally and physically ended up leaving the open house safely.  Photo by victory store Here are some tips with how to be safe for Real Estate Agents and Home Stagers: One It is wise not to have an open house by yourself. Ask a friend, family member or co-worker to come with you. This is the same for when staging a home, you may have construction or renovation workers in the same space as you.  Bring another person, so they know that you are not alone. Two When leaving to show a house to a potential buyer or to stage a home inform your office Tell them what time your are meeting your client or what time you will start staging the house and be completed Provide information about the client, number, home address, email, if you can take note of the license plate number on their car..text it to the individual who is aware of your meeting, so that If god forbid something goes wrong, people will know where to find you. Do the same when staging a home, provide the location and ways you can be contacted  Three Know that there are certain safety devices you can use, everyday items that can offer you protection (Gabrielle will teach you about those items in more detail). For example; one item you can use is mace pepper spray. Four As the saying goes, Knowledge is power.  The more you know with how to respond, the better your chances will be of avoiding unnecessary negative situations. Motivational Monday: Be Aware and Mindful with how you Treat others...   "I''ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." ~ Maya Angelou I am sure many of you have been in this situation, perhaps you have been in an argument or mis-communication with either personal, business, friend or family relations.  What ever it may be or has been, be sure to bring closer to the situation.  Sometimes you may not even know anything was said to upset that individual, it happens.  If that person brings awareness to the remarks or comments that didn''t make them feel so great, make sure to address it. On the flip side, for those you have helped, perhaps put a smile on an individuals face even if for a moment..they will remember you for that reason if nothing else.  Emotions run much deeper then physical traits.
