GIVING BACK CELEBRATIONS
(9/06/2009)
OMGoodness! The more I expose the idea of Giving Back, the bigger the picture getsBack in July, I was at a meeting with some reputable businesses and suggested about a Giving Back showcase. Well, the response from them was so unbelievable, that it is becoming a huge event. We all agreed that any sales from the showcase will have a percentage of proceed donated to a charity of choice. We are so excited for October 14th, 2009 to comethis will be our first of many GIVING BACK CELEBRATIONS SHOWCASE.I just want to personally thank everyone that is working so hard to make this event come about. It is such a win-win-win situation. When the vendor makes a sale.., a charity gets a donationthe customer gets the satisfaction of knowing that they are getting what they need for their celebration and helping out others. Just imagine walking around and seeing all these vendors giving back to our communityIn our lifetime, we all have a celebration of some sort, whether it will be a wedding, a birthday, a anniversary. These Paying Forward vendors that will be present are for special events for any occasion. It will be a fantastic night with the mixture of music, flowers, gowns & tuxes, photographers, favors, limos, tasting and so much more. There will be Lessings at MeadowEdge, Rogers Tuxedos, Bayport Flowers Houses, to name a few that will be joining with TWG Signature Boards at this big eventThe following charities are also excited to be involved with this. Donations were never presented to them in this way. We have as charity benefactors: LI2Day Walk, Schneiders Children Hospital, JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes), Victims Information Bureau Services, Let''s Rock and Roll for a Cure and many more.I will continue on in my next blog for all that is curious to see how this all turns out. So far, I could not ask for anything more then the positive direction it is heading!Best always,Keely HarrisCreator of today We gather Signature Boards

A Terrific "Give Back" Celebration Story!
(6/28/2009)
Planning a celebration can become over consuming, stressful and yet fun & exciting at the same time. I''ve decided to direct my blog as an instrument to let all planners to think about a wise approach while making decisions of the photographer, the venue, the flowers... and all the special touches to make it perfect. My philosophy in life is to always think about how you can give back while receiving. When one is planning a gathering it should always consist of somehow helping...As a continuation of my June blog, I just want you to know how good I feel on just the discussion of giving back. Im really pushing the awareness of how necessary it is to donate or give back to those in need. I m amazed on how many people are affected by breast cancer, diabetes, etc., either themselves or someone they love. This month, I was compelled to donate a Signature Board to the State Farms Grand Opening in Ronkonkoma. Michael F. Cousins, a State Farm Agent, had put this action packed, fun-filled day together. He also had tied a charity, JDRF, Juvenile diabetes, to his program. This was because one of his good friends little boy was diagnose at the age of 7. By adding this fundraiser to his Grand Opening, there were more outside donation to help raise money for this cause. He is a great example of planning a celebration but yet in the same time giving back to those who are in need. If you ask me he is a person who I would consider handling my insurance needs because he cares about others,,,

So does anybody have a story to tell how they gave back while having a celebration? Dont worry I''ll be back with more stories and ideas of giving back.

Let''s Celebrate MOTHER''S DAY!
(4/22/2009)

Did you know ...Mothers Day was originated in America in the late 1800s?What state was the first US State to observe Mothers Day?What U.S. President was responsible making Mothers Day a national observance? Why is the color of a carnation very significant on Mothers Day? I wanted to learn how this wonderful day became nationally observed on the second Sunday of May every year. Truth be told, I came across this wonderful website www.mothersdaycentral.com that discussed the history of Mothers Day MOTHERS DAY = Religious~Peace~Friendship~Flowers~Sentimental Gifts Religion is the root of celebrating mothersMany religious secular honor the term mother since the beginning of time. From Egyptian era to todays churches you will find Mothers celebrated at different times of the year. The feelings of a mother The first North American Mothers Day began with Julia Ward Howes Mothers Day Proclamation in 1870. Her protest of the civil war was called on Mothers to come together and protest what she saw as the hopelessness of their Sons killing the Sons of other Mothers. She wanted an international Mother''s Day celebrating peace and motherhood! Evolved by motherly love Soon a West Virginia womans group led by Anna Reeves Jarvis began to celebrate an adaptation of Howes holiday. In order to re-unite families and neighbors that had been divided between the Union and Confederate sides of the Civil War. The group held a Mothers Friendship Day. After Anna Reeves Jarvis died, her daughter Anna M. Jarvis campaigned for an official Mothers Day in remembrance of her mother and in honor of peace. It was held at Andrew''s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. FLOWERS symbolized motherhoodAnna Jarvis arranged for white carnationsher Mothers favorite flowerto adorn the church patrons. Today, white carnations are used in memory of deceased Mothers and pink or red carnations express love to Mothers still alive. In 1912 West Virginia became the first state to officially recognize Mother''s Day. In 1914 Woodrow Wilson signed it into national observance, declaring the second Sunday in May as Mother''s Day. Is Mothers Day too commercialized? In the 1930s Jarvis opposed the flower industrys exploitation of the holiday, despite her efforts, flower sales on Mother''s Day continued to grow. Let love grow! Flowers are not only the gift of choice for Mothers. In fact it has grown to a multi billion consumer day.Express your love for Mothers Day by creating a sentimental keepsake with words from your heart. Our customized Greeting Card Signature Boards gifts are ideal personalized photo gifts for your special Mommy!
